Carl Long, Hanshi-Ho, is Chairman and 22nd So-Shihan of the Kokusai Nippon Budo Kai. Long Shihan is responsible for the instruction and certification of KNBK Instructors and Dojos throughout North America, Central America and South America, Africa, Asia Australia and Europe. Long Shihan is the most senior student of Masayuki Shimabukuro and his highest ranked member of the KNBK. Carl Long is ranked 7th Dan Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaijutsu and holds the coveted title of Hanshi-Ho. Long Shihan is also ranked 6th Dan Shito Ryu Karate, 5th Dan Okinawan Kobudo and 5th Dan Shindo Muso Ryu Jojutsu.
Long Shihan will share the arts of Muso Jikiden Eishin Ru Iaijutsu, Kenjutsu, Batto Ho, Ona Ha Itto Ryu and Shindo Muso Ryu Jodo. This is an open seminar; beginners to advanced students are all welcome to attend. You may use your bokken or a dojo bokken if you do not have an Iaito.
On Sunday afternoon there will be an orientation, demonstration and practice of Suemonogiri (Tameshigiri). Cutting mats will be provided. Please bring your shinken if you have one.
Testing: Please let us know if you plan to test. Complete the test form and have it approved by your instructor.

Carl Long, Kyoshi, the Chairman of the Kokusai Nippon Budo-Kai (KNBK) will be instructing the collection of combative techniques using the tessen, which is often said to be defensive in nature and especially useful for disarming and restraining opponents. The tessen is not only a powerful weapon for uchiwaza (hitting techniques) and tsuki- waza (thrusting techniques) but is also very effective for applying pressure to nerve points or for kansetsuwaza (joint-locking techniques) and shimewaza (strangulation techniques).

Greetings to all KNBK Instructors,
The KNBK Honbu Dojo(Sakura Budokan) is planning for the upcoming 2013 KNBK Koshukai/Instructor Training Seminar.
The KNBK 2013 Koshukai is open to currently certified instructors, or to those yudansha interested in becoming instructors. Non-certified yudansha will only be permitted to come if their registration form is accompanied by a recommendation from their respective Dojo-cho. You or your Dojo representative are being invited to attend this year’s KNBK Instructor Training Seminar to be held in Kingston, PA. at the KNBK East Honbu Dojo the weekend of November 22, 23 and 24, 2013.
The tentative schedule will be the same as last year – all day training and discussion on Saturday and Sunday with the Koshukai ending Sunday afternoon. Yudansha testing will take place on Sunday morning prior to the beginning of Koshukai. The Hombu dojo will be open for training on Friday evening (Nov.22nd) for those wishing to train with their fellow KNBK instructors.

This event is to commemorate and honor Shimabukuro Hanshi’s legacy by coming together for a weekend of training and demonstrations. All who were touched by Shimabukuro Sensei’s spirit are encouraged to come and join us to celebrate his life, honor his memory, and remember how his presence enriched our lives.
We hope that with strong enbu, all will feel Shimabukuro’s spirit as a unifying presence to uplift and encourage all of us to continue his legacy of sincere and strong Budo.

The Programme (Subject to change) is planned to cover Muso Jikiden Eishin-ryu forms (Shoden, Chuden & Okuden).
Subject to numbers, a suitable venue will be located in the area close to MSMAS.
A ‘Special Session’ is also planned covering Tameshigiri, for those with Shinken.
Tameshigiri is practiced at The Mid Sussex Martial Arts School, but only for those who have attained YuDansha ranking in Seitei Iaido, the basis of Iaido at our Dojo, prior to the study of MJER.
During his week-long visit, Kyoshi Long will also personally instruct Renshi Bibby, who leads MJER at MSMAS, on a one-to-one basis.

They now serve the DNBK ID as the Official Representatives for all sword styles under the direction of the Japan Hombu and the DNBK International Division outside of Japan, as an extension of the authority of the DNBK Hombu and its governing body.

Bakersfield Budo – Isshinkan Dojo is honored to host Carl Long Kyoshi, Soshihan of the Kokusai Nippon Budo Kai for a THREE DAY Gasshuku beginning Friday, May 3rd through Sunday, May 5th.
This Gasshuku promises an ambitious schedule of the Japanese Sword Arts maintained by the KNBK! We are planning to cover Shindo Muso Ryu Jojutsu and the accompanying Kasumi Shinto Ryu Kenjutsu, Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaijutsu and the Ono-ha Itto Ryu Kenjutsu! Shinza (grading) will be held for eligible KNBK members as well as non-graded evaluations for members wishing to grade at a later date.
This will be Long Kyoshi’s first visit to Bakersfield Budo and a great opportunity for all KNBK members to share in a great three days of training, enjoy each others company and learn from the head of our organization!
Long Kyoshi serves as the Chairman of the Kokusai Nippon Budo Kai and is the designated successor of Shimabukuro Masayuki Hidenobu, the 21st Generation Inheritor of our line of Muso Jikiden Eishin-ryu Iaijutsu.
Long Kyoshi is Hombu-cho of the KNBK Intl. Hombu Dojo and is also the Kenshoin (Inspector/Advisor) of Iaido and Batto-do for the International Division of the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai, the oldest martial arts governing organization in Japan.
Long Kyoshi holds the grades of 8th Dan, Shorin-ryu Karate-do; 7th Dan, Muso Jikiden Eishin-ryu Iaijutsu; 6th Dan, Shito-ryu Karate-do; 5th Dan, Shindo Muso-ryu Jojutsu; and dan grades in Aikido and Kobudo.

(It is understood that not all KNBK members practice Jojutsu; registration reflects a 2-day seminar fee including lunches and Saturday banquet, the Jojutsu training day is added at no additional cost)
